A token record

On my rubbish walk this morning I easily broke all previous Hell's Pizza token collecting records, with a stunning 17 tokens in 1 hour 15 minutes. This works out at about $17 an hour if converted into gourmet pizzas and then into cash. In the process, I also picked up over 7kg of waste.

One of the more surprising aspects is that I only found one box with a token removed!

Nice work! I got 13 tokens from our recent work function... we usually have lots of Hells Pizza and no-one else seems to know about the tokens.

Well done! That is one large pizza and a decent part of a meal for two.

I looked in the paper today (it was a freebie) to find yesterday was the coldest morning of the year! No wonder my fingers were rigid for the first part of my rubbish walk. I have cloth gloves and as soon as the water soaked through, arghhhh, absolutely chilling, until my fingers eventually warmed up the water in the gloves.

In welly nearly all the pizza boxes on the side of the road are missing their tokens. But apparently hell pizza started here so maybe we cottoned on to it earlier. But I do get to pickup quite a few small coins. :-)

I was watching target the other night, they did a thing on the vouchers. Apparantly they refused to give someone the free pizza because they did not supply 2 reciepts as required. In this respect your $17 might equate to nothing ( I suspect the reciept requirement is done to thwart attempts exactly like yours). However you would also have a strong case to make them cough up as it seems that nowhere on the box does it have any mention of the reciept requirements. Only in a few stores did they have this fine print. You can easily argue that they are breaching the Fair Trading Act in a number of ways.

Heh, I watched that too. And I have been aware of their receipt requirement and have actually had a receipt on hand all three times that I have gained a free pizza. Strangely, I, the token-thief, have never been asked to present a single receipt! So I'm collecting receipts too.

I think their whole strategy is flawed. The best strategy to prevent non-buyers taking and using unremoved tokens is to make the tokens more obvious. They now put stickers on the inside of the boxes saying to bring in two receipts with the 13 tokens, but the should have just said in big letters "Remember to remove your token". That way you don't burden and annoy loyal customers and you don't feed the bottomfeeders who trawl rubbish...

But perhaps they bank on the poor placement of the tokens to reduce the number of free pizzas claimed.

Oh well.
